According to the Food Safety rules and regulations in the UK as well as EU it is mandatory that all food handlers to be properly trained in all food safety methods concerned with their responsibilities. All people who cook, prepare or handle food must ensure that the food served to consumers is safe. It is a responsibility of all such professionals to maintain a high standard of food safety and Hygiene in their workplace.

Current food safety legislation states that food handlers working in establishments such as Restaurants, Cafes, Takeaways, Guest Houses, Pubs, Schools, Work Canteens, Child minding Facilities, and the Care Services, should have appropriate training at Level 2.

Our Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety Course is designed to ensure that on completion of the course delegates have necessary awareness of good hygiene and safety issues and meets food industry regulations, with reference to employees preparing, cooking, and handling food in catering settings.

Candidates who complete this program successfully will develop in-depth knowledge about the significance of food safety; best practices to handle food; and minimize the chances of contamination, saving lives and maintaining trust of their customers.

Age requirement:

The minimum age required for this course is 14 years.

Duration of the Food Safety course:

This is a 1-day course consists of theory and practical training.

What is included in the Food Safety Course?


  • The importance of personal responsibility for food safety
  • The legal responsibilities of food handlers and food business operators
  • The importance of personal hygiene in food safety
  • Effective personal hygiene practices, including protective clothing, hand washing and personal illnesses
  • The importance of pest control
  • The sources and risks to food safety from contamination and cross contamination
  • Stock control procedures including deliveries, storage, date marking and stock rotation
  • How to deal with food spoilage including recognition, reporting and disposal.

Assessment / Test

The assessment is by written and practical observation/ examination / Test.

On successful completion of the training programme, a “Level 2 Award in Food Safety” certificate will be issued to the learner. This qualification is valid for 3 years.

Course Location

While booking is available by online or phone calls to our office, this course is normally delivered at our training Centre face-to-face in the classroom. However, if you want to book 6 or more for this course, we can deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises. It will, reduce your costs in respect of additional time out and travelling expenses.
